Who am I?
My name is Darren Wallace and I'm currently based in Melbourne, Australia. I am a freelance artist. I recently graduated from JMC Academy (Bachelors Degree in Digital Animation). I specialize in creature and character design but I'm also well skilled in all areas of a typical 3D animation pipeline.
About me
Being creative has always been a passion of mine since I was a kid. Started with drawing then music and now digital creations. I remember as a kid being amazed the first time I saw Jurassic Park at the movies, begging my mother into letting me go see it three times. I really wanted to get into CGI but it felt like a world away, felt like I had more of chance of being an astronaut!. After moving from the country to the city I saw an advertisement for an animation course and that sparked my interest and I started to look into how digital animation was created and I downloaded a trial of 3DS Max 9 and it opened my eyes, CGI isn't a world away, it's something I can do!. This hobby turned into an obsession and I knew I had to get a career in the industry. I enrolled at JMC Academy in 2011 doing a bachelors degree in digital animation and haven't looked back.
